Melissa Loop describes herself as “primarily” a painter, but her installations are pretty amazing, too. They really are just 3D versions of her paintings. She uses party supplies, home improvement materials, and everyday craft items. I’m always super-inspired when artists are utilizing easily accessible materials to make something beautiful. Brooklyn-based artist Brian Douglas operates under the secret code name Elbow-Toe. He has been covering walls of cities all around the world with his stencils, woodcuts, and large-scale charcoal drawings. I’m really blown away by his recent series of paintings for the Warrington Museum in the UK. See his impressive body of work here.
